Born London 1954, I studied art at
Watford and Belfast. I’ve been a freelance illustrator since 1982
and while I’ve subsequently worked for many of the leading
publishers in the UK, I’ve also worked for many other, sometimes
quite off-beat, organizations, big and small. From pictures for a
commemorative plate for some long vanished railway branch line to a
painting of St Martin of Tours for a local school, no job is too small
and each rewarding in its own way.

As will
be apparent throughout this website, my great passion is history. I
have an extensive personal reference library that enables me to bring
a great amount of detail and vividness to my illustrations of times
past.
During the 1980’s I worked with a couple of
small theatre troupes, producing posters and scenery. This in turn led
to series of exhibitions in conjunction with mask maker, Ninian
Kinnier Wilson of illustrations based on characters and from the
Commedia del Arte. |
